This video for ‘Is It A Crime’ originally released January 1986 directed by Brian Ward is one of Sade’s best. The song is originally from the “Promise” album and is one of my favorites as well. I’ll spare you the “Got damn! This kills everything your going to hear on the radio this month” speech.

My information is your information and here are some interesting fact about the floundering music industry from the latest “Nielsen Company 2009 Year-End Music Industry Report.“

1. 2009 Digital Music Accounts for 40% of Total U.S. Music Purchases

This one is crazy but not at all unexpected. People are not buying physical media. Digital is just so much more convenient and portable. Just about all the big music retail chains are gone like dinosaurs or typewriters. Only Walmart and Target are still selling CD’s in decent numbers.

2. Rap music sales are down 20.9% from last year.

This is a HUGE drop. Hip-hop is no longer the pop culture darling it was 5-10 years back. I have been saying hip-hop is dead for the past 4 years and the trends are now catching up with this.

Well I saw these dudes together on Jimmy Fallon’s late night show a few weeks ago so lets hope this is an indicator of something bigger in the works from the duo.

Ok. Ok. Ok. This has to be either the dumbest or most in-genius internet start up ideas I have seen in a while. This site called Bopaboo.com wants you to sell your used mp3’s.

I am thinking the point is that the RIAA and such seem to claim that digital copies are like physical CDs. If MP3’s are like CD’s then why cant they be resold like CD’s? Reselling CD’s are currently perfectly legal. Holy shit. This might just be a stroke of genius… or some gutsy fools about to get sued into the next millennium.
